what’s up guys Jeremy with everything iDevice and in this video, I’m gonna be showing you in my opinion what is one of the most important applications you should have on any of your AI devices and that is finding my iPhone so definitely out of the box I would go into the App Store and install this application I think it’s an app that Apple should have integrated into iOS 6.
I think it’s just as important as the weather app and the stocks app so Find My iPhone now the reason why I’m doing this video is that a few months back I actually lost my iPhone 4 and I didn’t know about Find My iPhone too much I never used it I didn’t know how it worked and I think if I knew what I knew now I probably would have gotten that iPhone back so we’ll be demoing this with my iPhone 5 and my iPhone 4 now keep in mind everything that I’ll be doing on the iPhone 5 you can do on your computer you can do it on your friend’s Android it doesn’t matter as long as it has Internet connectivity so you can get to icloud.com that’s where you can do all these same controls as I’m gonna demo so we’re just gonna go ahead and we’re gonna launch.
Find My iPhone and as you can see I have all of my devices on Find My iPhone very important tool so like I said we’ll be doing my iPhone for now it’s gonna locate it I’m gonna take it off screen real quick so I can zoom the map in so you guys can’t see what Street I live on so there you go as you can see it actually located my my iPhone 4 on the map another cool thing is if you look in the upper right hand corner of the map you can see the little battery it shows you how much battery life is on that device very cool now down at the bottom here is where you have your options for this device so say you lost it in your house it might be in the couch might be in the bed you don’t know you can just play a sound and it’s really loud and annoying so there you go and then you will get a confirmation email on your other device saying that that sound was played on that device so say it’s dead and it’s not going through you won’t get that confirmation email so that’s a very very nice touch on Apple’s part now the next option you have is lost mode and in my opinion that’s the most important part of this tutorial or demo.
I should say and the last option is erased the iPhone I’m not gonna actually do that in this video that’s going to delete all of the information on that device kind of pointless for me to do just keep in mind you can erase all the data so if you never get that device back I would recommend doing that but for the time being if you just lost it do lost mode now it’s gonna ask you to put in a passcode this will be the passcode that’s required to be entered to enter into that device so that’ll be the passcode lock you’re setting up from a different device so we’ll just do a generic 1 1 1 1 and then here it’s going to ask you for a number where you can be reached at so I’m just gonna do another generic number we’ll do a 5 5 5 5 5 5 number just like so and we can click Next.
Then here is enter a message that would be shown with your phone number on that iPhone here’s the generic input this iPhone has been lost please call me now keep in mind you could also do like cash reward depending on how important this device is to you and I’ll just do like a hundred bucks that would probably greatly increase your chances of getting that device back because maybe the person that stole it might be trying to get into it and they can’t because it’s passcode locked so they might just give up and be like oh I can get 100 bucks for returning it you know just a very very smart touch on Apple’s part to allow you to put this message in and now I’ll bring this up here and say they’re in the device this device is not passcode lock that’s why I asked you to put in the passcode so I’ll just show you no passcode now let’s say this hand is the thief and he’s trying to go through your stuff he’s in the settings.
Then you realized you lost her your iPhones been stolen go ahead and click done and then like Duda Lulu, oh oh no so as you can see here is the message that we set on my iPhone 5 this iPhone has been lost please call me cash reward $100 five five five five five five they can go ahead and click done and if they’re trying to get into your device as you can see they have to put in that passcode that you set up I definitely want to set it up as one one one something unique that they wouldn’t be able to figure out and just keep in mind that this is basically bricked it’s a frozen brick they can you know the power it off and power back on there’s no getting past this they can plug it into iTunes and try and restore it they’re still not going to get through it it’s a frozen brick so in my opinion after they try all those methods of getting in your device.
